Happy Tuesday! As per usual, yesterday at Zest was not as anticipated… you might say we all had a serious case of the Mondays! None the less, productivity prevailed and after zestin’ with the girls all day, I figured we could all do some wishful thinking and drool over a few of the top honeymoon travel and lodging trends of 2014.
Newly weds are becoming less interested in the traditional vision of a honeymoon, such as jet setting to Hawaii and laying on one of its world renowned beaches. Couples are now searching for adventure and new, authentic expriences that different countries and cultures have to offer. From zip lining in New Zealand to backpacking across Europe, honeymooners are looking for that once in a life time trip experience to get knocked out of their comfit zone and gain a new perspective on life with their new life partner.
After doing some serious travel and lodging research, I found two amazing options that fit into adventure tourism, as well as following the desire to try something completely unique and out of the ordinary… Are you ready?
What is “glamping”?
Glamping is glamorous camping aka camping in absolute style. Yes, there are still your camping basics like the being in the good outdoors, just with a little less of the roughing it aspect 🙂
How does it work?
The great thing about glamping is that there are so many options! There are resorts and glamping retreats set up internationally that have a range of options and lodging ranging from tents, to huts, to yurts, to airstreams! Also, glamping can be totally DIY, yes it takes a tad more preparation and effort but absolutely do-able! I’ve never been a camper myself… but I think I might need to do some serious re-evaluating 🙂
Okay, officially converted!
Glamping not just for honeymoons…
Glamping does sound a bit girlie I must admit, I have always loved the concept of a glamping retreat bachelorette party packed with activities like yoga, spa treatments and papering, and of course girl time in stye! Another great idea Chanda touched on in her Stellar Bridal Shower post is an awesome glamping bridal shower party that can completely come to life even as somewhere as simple as a backyard!

Tree House Hotels
Yes, tree house hotels are pretty self explanatory and the concept is just like those childhood fortresses we built as kids, except these are just slightly more incredible and are located in the most naturally gorgeous environments! Adult tree houses are found across the world in exotic places like Costa Rica, Bali, Thailand, South Africa, Australia… and the list goes on! There are even some amazing hotels located on the west coast from Big Sur to Washington!
Who knew sleeping in trees and in tents could be so stylish! Adventure tourism isn’t limited to where you travel, but where you lodge where you travel.
Hope this got your travel and adventure juices flowing!
Until next time
