Rustic Wood and Mason Jars Make an Organized Life
Having flashbacks of last year’s school papers all over the house. Yikes! Confusion and chaos. Not good for my sanity and a total disaster for my house. So, this year I am being proactive. No more trying to hand mom papers to sign while she’s driving, and no more homework papers on every table surface, in every room. Nope. I am streamlining this year with a couple of things I found in the house. Yay! I love it when I pull a rabbit outta my hat!!!!
- wooden box or drawer (or you can make one if you are handy, like we did for our s’mores bar)
- extra piece of wood cut to width of box/drawer (measurement will vary)
- Gorilla Glue or wood glue
- mason jars and/or recycled jars
- chalkboard stickers
- white paint pen
- school supplies (aka pencils, erasers, etc)
Luckily I had this drawer sitting around, just waiting to be transformed into something cool. I absolutely adore using drawers for organization. Samantha even uses them in her pantry…who would have thought a pantry could be cute?! Hahaha, Samantha did! 😉
First step, I measured out a piece of wood to create a divider in my drawer.
My piece of wood was so tight and secure that I didn’t bother with screws. A little Gorilla Glue or wood glue does the trick.
Next up…jars. You can use Mason jars, or you can use old spaghetti sauce jars or candle containers. Just browse through your recycle bin for ideas 🙂
Now to give everything it’s spot. I totally scored when I found these chalkboard stickers at the 99c Store. Gotta love getting cute things on the cheap! SCORE
With a few folders added into the mix, there is now a place for everything. A true portable homework station that will keep the chaos at bay!
Oh happy day! Me likey likey!!
