Thai Fusion Pizza with Basil, Chili, & Shrimp
Sometimes, Saturday needs to be about simplicity in the kitchen. You cannot get more “Saturday night” than pizza, right? Pizza and a movie are almost an American birthright.
Simple is great, but tonight I figured that I would try simple with a little bit of flair!
In honor of simplicity, I just used a box mix for some gluten free pizza crust. Go ahead and use your favorite recipe, or just use some pizza dough from the grocery store (I love the dough sold at Trader Joe’s….great flavor and great price!)
Now for the flair. I had steeped fresh red chili in some excellent olive oil, and I knew that it would be a fun condiment. So, I decided that I would try out a little fusion flavor of Italian and Thai. Basil is so delicious in both culinary traditions, so I made it a star for this recipe.
I topped my fusion pizza with fresh mozzarella (otherwise known as buffalo mozzarella) and bay shrimp tossed with pesto.
Follow the directions for your crust when it comes to baking. Usually it involves a rather high heated oven, 400 or 425 degrees should work.
Once the crust is baked and the cheese is lusciously melted, pull it out of the oven and top it with a confetti of fresh basil and a drizzle of chili oil.
Cheers to being simple with flair!
I think I might have a new favorite. Now time for a movie 🙂
