Annie and Garrett's beautiful outdoor wedding at Swallow Creek Ranch was an exuberant celebration of their love for each other, family, and nature. Their joyful spirit and fun-loving nature shines through in every single one of their wedding photos!
The newlyweds love the outdoors, whether it's hunting, going on an adventure, or taking their dogs on long walks out in the countryside. So, for their wedding, we brought in an array of warm spring colors: peach, sherbet, and honey, mixed with some olive green. For accents, we used natural textures like woven fabric or wood for a rustic feel. Decorations were kept simple but meaningful, in order to let each special moment shine.
THEIR LOVE STORY
Annie and Garrett first met through a mutual friend at a small birthday barbecue for one of Garrett's friends. They clicked instantly, dancing and talking the night away, and went on their first date a couple weeks later. They've been together ever since!
The day they got engaged, Garrett had been trying to propose all day, but they were out with Annie's dad out on the ranch. Later in the day, Garrett finally suggested that he, Annie, and her sister go to a hilltop that overlooked the rolling hills of her family's cattle ranch. When they reached the viewpoint, Garrett asked for Annie's crutches. She thought he was just trying to play with them, but, as he puts it, he was "making sure she didn't run." Then he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him, and Annie's sister captured it all on camera!
WEDDING CEREMONY
Their first look was sweet and emotional, with the groom in full tears as they read their vows aloud. The pictures say it all!
When it came time for the ceremony, they wanted to honor their mutual love for their families, so they let the flower girl and ring bearer sit on stage during the ceremony (SO cute!).
A breath-taking ocean view behind the ceremony made for a dramatic yet minimal backdrop, and the textures of florals in woven baskets was a great way to embrace their natural surroundings.
DINNER & DANCING
The newlyweds wanted to show off some of their old family photos, so we incorporated a gallery wall arrangement into their seating chart, which was hung on the barn wall upon entry. Later in the evening, we even re-enacted a classic photo Annie had of her grandparents cutting their wedding cake, so she could have the same angle and shot.
For the reception, we set each place with an olive-colored napkin and topped it with a flower and a sprig of rosemary from my garden. The guests enjoyed family-style dinner and story-filled toasts, all held in the classic blue barn of Swallow Creek Ranch—the perfect "something blue!"
DREAM TEAM
Annie and Garrett were SO fun, easy to work with, and all-around loving people. Their joy shows in their wedding photos, from popping bottles of champagne, to jokes and laughter during the toasts, to dancing the night away!
