Mid-Century Office Chair All Dressed Up

Did we mention that on top of designing a black and white 1920’s Ball for this weekend, we are also participating in a Craft and Vintage Fair.  Kinda crazy?  Yesssss.  Haha, I have friends that say I’ve got about a decade more of rolling at this speed, but then I look at my grandmother who in her young eighties and is still traveling the world and working (and looking gorgeous as she does it in nylons and high heels, might I add).  Honestly, I don’t know if I’m genetically disposed to slowing down 🙂 .  Anyhewwww, Sam and I have been having fun this week busting out gifts to sell under the $20 margin at the fair, and of course I have been doing some small furniture pieces.

Enter the uber cool mid-century office chair that I picked up for $5 at a garage sale a while back…

First step was to flip it over and spray the leg with a metal primer and paint….and since we already had some pieces done in yellow that we were taking to a Craft and Vintage Fair, you guessed it, yellow it is!

In hindsight, I think I would have treated the seat first….that way I would have had less to do when it came to protecting the base from over spray.  But check out this cool stuff that I discovered for the seat!

This is such cool stuff!  You can pick up Rustoleum’s Fabric and Vinyl spray paint at your local Ace Hardware store…but I have found a vast array of colors out our local upholstery store.  It is really designed for car upholstery…but it is perfect for those cool 1960’s pieces that need a little lift.  The result was amazingly soft and pliable.

No crunchies here!  But be forewarned!  This stuff stinks to high heaven!!  Do it outside (of course) and maybe don a mask 🙂 …don’t want anyone passing out!

It looks so good!

(Minus the painters tape around the wheels that I forgot to remove for the pic, whoops.)

Haha, I showed Julianne these pics while we were stringing crystals onto chandeliers and making silver tinsel tassels for the Atascadero Firefighter’s Ball…Julianne: “I seriously didn’t know that it was possible to make those chairs cute!”

If you love that mid-century styling (which I adore), you have got to try this out!  Imagine the possibilities…….vinyl couches, stools, chairs….all like new and matching your decor perfectly!

Have fun Zestin’!
