Honey Chili Sautéed Long Beans

It is no secret that I am in love with the flavors of Asia.  I mean the entire continent!  I adore Indian, Mongolian, Korean, you name it!  It is so much fun looking at the indigenous flavors and playing with new ideas.

This recipe is not the most creative, but I adore throwing it together for some delicious flavor that I can whip up in a hurry.  Actually, this is one of those simple dishes that I find myself craving…especially when I find Chinese long beans at my local Farmer’s Market.  As soon as I see them, I immediately start hankering for their distinct crunch and this yummy glaze!  The best part, is when this dish is on the table…my kids always go for seconds on their veggies.

I love these beans!  They are so dramatic.  They send my imagination to thoughts of mermaid hair swimming in the deep.

Simply give them a rinse and chop them up into more manageable bites for the plate.

Start by sauteing your garlic and chilies in your olive oil.  Once aromatic, add your prepared long beans.

Saute them until they are bright and a bit tender (I like mine with a little crunch).

The final step is to stir in a tablespoon of honey and two teaspoons of soy sauce.

I adore all the chunks of garlic!  Nom nom!

Next time you see that “mermaid hair” in the aisles of the grocery store or your local Farmer’s Market….snatch them up!!
