GROUNDED: SLO 2018
Just in case you did not get to join us for Grounded:SLO, we wanted to share with you some of the magic of the day!
Inspired by nature, community and intentional living, we decided to pair up with a few of our favorite professionals to create a day that was deeply rooted in health and well being. I remember when we sat at Kreuzberg in San Luis Obispo, and started firing up ideas with Shanna Ferrigno. If the name Shanna Ferrigno is new to you, she is the sweet spirit behind Ferrigno Fit and and the author of the book The Reset Plan. I have been fortunate to have been blessed with her in my life as a friend, and now I was even more stoked to work with her!
The ideas around that table at Kreuzberg were electrifying! We started dreaming up a day that was both a welcome retreat from the busy modern life, and part educational for intentional living…and boy o’ boy did the day deliver! Let me walk ya’ through the day.
We couldn’t imagine a more magical setting for a day away to “reset”- a special thank you to See Canyon Fruit Ranch for hosting us!! Guests were greeted with legit swag, from Previnix vegan protein shakes and mixer bottles, to journals, wine tasting vouchers and Shanna’s awesome book.
With their swag in hand, they were greeted with homemade almond milk, turmeric tea, a loose leaf tea bar as well as reishi mushroom elixir drops from GreenLove. We also had a local goods marketplace for attendees to peruse and support local business. From honey to jewelry and pottery and more!
After purusing the market, sipping some hot tea and making some new friends attendees lined up to an epic avocado toast bar where they piled on pickled onions, radishes, hard boiled eggs, fire roasted tomatoes, pepitas, hemp seeds, red pepper flakes, cilantro and more!! For a sweeter bite we had almond milk chia seed pudding topped with fresh fruit from the local farmers market.
After dining we dove into a full day of workshops, starting the day off with Shanna sharing about her journey through health. She challenged attendees to share about their lust, loves and indifferences when it came to the food as well as challenging them to take a step towards really taking time for themselves and seeking accountability. #Inspiring!!
Next we got our hands dirty, or in this case smelling AMAZING with a holistic DIY with Life Elements. The owners, Curt & Martha, taught attendees how to make their own relaxing salt soaks using easy to find all natural ingredients.
Next we geared up for yoga on the deck with yogi Kaylen Gleason, which in my opinion this couldn’t have been be a more epic scenery to breath, stretch, grow and connect!
Next we had a sweet treat, literally, and listened to Summer of SLO Honey Co. share about beekeeping as well as all the natural health benefits of consuming local honey. Attendees also learned about how we can be creating bee friendly yards by planting specific plants and sampled seasonal honeys.
After beekeeping, Franca of The Healing Tree, helped us all get a little more rooted and centered as a group with some reflexology and breathing techniques. We paired up and practiced some massages as well as got more connected as group with some gazing exercises. It was a sweet moment of listening to the birds and taking some much needed rest time and reset, understanding the importance of healthy touch.
To close off the day we hosted a hands on cooking demo that involved making vegan dilly carrot soup, ricing cauliflower, and learning to spatchcock a chicken as well as some other kitchen tricks! After being teased with all the amazing smells we gathered around the table to enjoy our soup, tandoori chicken with blood oranges, turmeric riced cauliflower with chickpeas, and bbq’d artichokes with garlic toum. YUM! (all farm fresh of course!!)
Oh and did we mention that throughout the entire day attendees were encouraged to swing by the “love yourself bar” to rub on an essential oil, grab a snack, take a GreenLove activated charcoal shot, or slather up with some sunscreen.
As every good day should, we leave you with some See Canyon Fruit Ranch kitty snuggles!
Cheers to your health my friends!
