Find & Fix it Friday: How to clean your fireplace glass
One of the joy’s of our new home is a gorgeous fireplace that is REAL. In our last house we had the” flip a switch and magic happens kind of fireplace”- which I must say when it’s raining and you didn’t cover your wood, looks very appealing! My fireplace has already undergone some transformations that you can check out here. But now time to focus on maintenance and upkeep, my issue you ask? I can’t really see my fire. Well sure if I leave the doors unopen it looks gorgeous like this…..
But let’s face it, that’s not really efficient for how my little sucker works with blowing heat. So it’s time to clean the black BLACK, did I mention blaaaaaack doors!? Chanda had heard a rumor that white vinegar would do the trick and I was up for the challenge for my find and fix it friday task!
First off, doesn’t white vinegar seem to just have all the answers? I mean really! Just check out these 1001 uses for it!
Anyways, pour some into a spray bottle and sprtiz your glass.
Allow to sit for 3 or 4 minutes and then use a rag or paper towel to wipe. MAGIC.
Now for me, I had a lot of build up, so my first “soak” was not enough. I sprayed and came back 5 minutes later only to find out it needed more time and a sponge or hard bristled brush. SO basically repeat until you can walk away squeaky clean and happy. I am assuming that the more often I do this it will only be a faster easier process with less build up.
yay! Now I just need to make a fire and cozy up! 🙂
