Easy Origami Envelope

Chanda and I are all about Japanese art- from shibori to shou sugi ban and now origami! They have the arts on point when it comes to subtle lines and forms that create beauty and are therapeutic even amongst creating. Growing up I always made handmade cards for my friends and family, infact I was just going through a box of old cards from elementary days that I had made for my Daddy. Not going to lie- I impressed myself with the creativity! hahah! There is just something about “handmade” that goes the extra mile and shows your loved one they are worth taking the extra time to create for. Plus handwritten letters are going out of style and I am all for brining some snail mail back! Amen?! I am going to show you a quick and simple envelope that is perfect for writing your next Bday card, love letter or even thank you note! This is one envelope your friend or love won’t want to throw away!

First fold your paper with one corner down to the other corner and trim the excess strip to create a perfect square.

Next fold one corner to the center…

And flip to fold again…

Fold one flap over to the next corner and then the opposing side as well…

It’s okay if your flap hangs over the edge- no worries!

Next fold that triangle back to the center and open up the edge to create a square…

like so…

Next grab a hot glue gun and add a little glue in that square and the corner to secure your envelope. Next glue on a button and a little string to fasten your envelope cutely.

All set and ready to write some notes!

Cheers to brining back snail mail!
