Easy Kale Soup for the Cold & Flu Season
Good morning y’all. Today I was going to post a different recipe, but then I figured that you may all want a refresher on this simple recipe for the cold & flu season. It is my go-to for healing my body quickly when life and kid germs tear me down. Put a batch in your crock pot and sip on it all day long when you are stuffy and miserable. Think of it as a big hug from me! xo
With three kids fully integrated in school, sports and various extracurricular activities, you can only imagine the warfare that the the cold n’ flu season can wage in my house. Miraculously, I have managed to get my 13, 10 and 7 year old this far in life without resorting to antibiotics. No minor feat by any stretch of the imagination! That also means that my kids are used to some pretty crazy homeopathic tactics on mom’s part. I guess that is not a surprise when you know that my mom used to literally have me chew on raw garlic everytime my throat started to get scratchy.
Of course, some methods are more effective than others…and might I say a whole lot more palatable than a chunk of garlic right out of the husk.
Here is one of my favorite recipes that have me healing up fast every cold n’ flu season. When I feel the bug striking, I will immediately pop these ingredients into a crockpot and I sip bowls of it throughout the day. The kuddos for this recipe is that even the kids eat it….without me creating childhood nightmares (crossing fingers 😉 ).
Kale Cold n’ Flu Season Soup
This is NOT hard. The point is keeping it simple enough to prep for yourself quick when you feel miserable. It is kind of a dump it into the pot type of a thing.
Chop that massive amount of garlic…it is going to make the soup so yummy (and it is waaayyyyy better than chewing on it raw!)
Give the mix a quick squeeze of lemon and a little pinch of salt for seasoning. The vitamin C is going to help you absorb all the goodness in the kale.
Do not forget your cayenne! It is going to rev up your metabolism!
Now, just simmer away on the stovetop or in a crockpot.
This soup will speed your recovery and fill you up nicely with a good dose of protein. Since it is so light, you can snack on this soup every couple of hours to give yourself your best foot forward in recovery.
Hope this gives you the comfort it has given me this season! Feel better
