DIY Reed Diffuser

I am a sucker for candles. I love the combo of the scent plus the ambiance, but I will have to admit that back when I was in high school my parents were always on my back because I would forget to blow them out! OO000Ps! Thank you Jesus that story has never ended badly with me torching down the house. Funny I would marry a Fireman, huh? But with that said, now owning my own home, I must be extra careful to not let old habits slip! This DIY is definitely a preventive in the making. Forget the flames and just get the good smells the all natural way- essential oils!

Vessel– needs to have a narrow opening, check out thrift stores

Skewers (only need 4 to 5, you can by reeds or use bamboo skewers)

1/4 cup Carrier Oil– ideally one that is not heavy so it will move up skewers faster (coconut oil, safflower oil, almond oil, etc)

20 drops Essential Oils

Add 1/4 cup oil to your vessel. reed diffuser_0009

Next drop 20 or so drops of your scented oils, I did Lavender- mmm!

After doing some research here are some combo scents I found intriguing (if only I had all those oils)

Peppermint + Wild Orange

Lavender + Lemon + Rosemary

Cinnamon + Wild Orange

Grapefruit + Lemon + Lime

Lavender + Eucalyptus

White Fir + Cypress

Juniper Berry + Lavender

Bergamot + Patchouli

Give a quick stir with your skewer and then add all the skewers. The more skewers you add just means the faster the oil will be used (aka a stronger scent) and you will need to refill.

Not sure if it could get any easier?reed diffuser_0012

It’s the perfect addition to my new room makeover!! (more to come on that project!) Once the sticks are completely saturated you will replace them with new sticks.
