The Great Outdoors Themed Party

For the past 5 years we have had the honor of designing, catering and coordinating a local companies Holiday party, MGE Underground. We have done lots of fun themes and ideas from the Winter Wonderland of 2016 to the Speak Easy Prohibition or Casino Night or last year’s Italian Market. With every year we have stepped it up a notch when it comes to theme and layout while even headcount has grown too! With our biggest year yet, we set the tables for almost 400 employees and dates to come and feast in the “Great Outdoors.” We wanted to keep things casual yet intentional this year, why not have the guys show up in plaid and let the ladies kick their heels off if they want to? We partnered with some awesome local vendors and had our amazing zesty staff all there to help us create “The Great Outdoors” (in the empty ugly fairgrounds building! ha!) Let me show you….

Upon entry guests checked in to receive raffle tickets, company thank you cards AND a complimentary signature drink- our very own homemade ” Alpine Vodka Lemonade.” After all, this is sure to start setting the laid back camping vibes immediately.

Chanda and I collected TONS of pinecones, branches, stumps and greenery to really bring the outdoors inside. YES I was chopping up branches and stumps at 7 months preggo- gotta love it!

We set the dining tables under a “starlit” sky and served dinner family style to ensure guests were able to stay seated to enjoy great “campfire” stories and each other’s company.

Centerpieces were simple yet intentional- we started with a chocolate brown table linen as our base, added an ivory and egg shell blue linen table runner to make the design elements pop and then got to staging. From pinecones to stumps, antlers, lanterns and moss rocks- guests feasted under twinkle and candle light on recycled pressed palm plates.

We rented this rustic bar from AAE and staged it with the perfect handpainted beer signs.

Anya McInroy shot pictures of employees out on the job for the last few months and we posted them all around the room with some epic uplighting in their company colors from DJ BOB.

Next we had our showstopper lounges that we partnered with Tinker Tin Trailer Co. to create! From a 15th tipi to the vintage camper trailer, guests were able to really get in the lounging mode by kicking by our faux fire with a cold one. We also had nearby classic lawn games like jenga, ladder golf and even a target practice on a bear!

What’s a party without dessert? OR really, what’s camping without s’mores? We designed an epic s’mores bar that consisted our all your necessities for building your perfect s’more as well as come legit cowboy coffee.

I mentioned earlier that employees received raffle tickets, they had the chance to win some pretty epic prizes that night! From BBQ’s and bikes to surfboards and pretty much anything YETI that your heart desires. Chanda and I were super excited to design this “Yeti Tree” to show off all the goods. It was definitely a popular spot to toss your ticket in.

As the evening unfolded this outdoor hay bail lounge became THE SPOT to really get outdoors and have some hang time. But not going to lie, there was another spot that was bumping that night and it was the CAM Booth– complete with a green screen with ton’s of outdoor options for guests to cheese on. We had fun collecting photo props to have guests get creative with and boy did they!! Here are a few shots to show you!!

Thanks for allowing us to zest for you MGE! Cheers to another great year!
