I hope your weekend was filled with holiday cheer! It is a tad unbelievable just how close Christmas is right now. How can it be less than a week away?!? I am not even finished with my Christmas shopping! Yep, I am going to have to venture out into those crowded stores and parking lots. If I am being honest, I think the hustle and bustle of this season is actually kind of fun. Yes, we can work ourselves into a frantic frenzy trying to get everything done….but that is what makes the quiet moments of the holidays so special. We appreciate them so much more, because they are so needed. Moments shared by the fire, Christmas music softly playing and conversations running long and deep.
Here is a little gift for your holiday. A warm and toasty drink that is sure to make those fire-lit visits even better! Besides, this is a pair that is destined to be together: red wine and chocolate. Mmmmmmm.
Red Wine Hot Chocolate
1 cup cream
1 cup milk
1 1/3 cup dark chocolate chips (I heart Ghirardelli!)
1 1/3 cup red wine (make sure it’s drinkable and tasty, but not pricey)
Makes 4 servings
In a medium sized pot, combine the chocolate chips, cream and milk. Warm it over a medium heat, whisking until the chocolate has melted.
I like to add the red wine right at the end, because I want to just warm it up and not cook off the alcohol. I am not making a stew here, peeps….this IS a cocktail, after all 😉
Luscious and delicious…just what dark chocolate and red wine ought to be!
Cheers to staying toasty and warm as you meet the franticness of the season with quiet moments to share.
