I am back on the topic of Japanese matcha green tea today. I figured it would be a perfect subject for Trendy Tuesday, and having some over ice is lovely for the warm days we are having! If you tend to follow food trends like I do (admittedly, kind of obsessively), then you may have noticed the inundation of Matcha at restaurants, coffee houses, and even Pinterest. But, what is matcha? It is pretty much the top leaves of green tea, but instead of simply steeping the leaves, they are ground and added to water. So, you basically get the goodness of the whole plant!
Honestly, I can get behind this trend 100% since it tastes amazing, gives me a powerful energy boost for my day, and loads my body with antioxidants. You can read more about Matcha here. Basically, it’s awesome! I hope you had a chance to check out our Matcha Banana Iced “Cream” with dark chocolate chunks we posted the other day. Yum. But, today we are going simple. Grab a blender and get ready to chill!
Minted Matcha Iced Tea
1 tablespoons matcha powder
1/2 tablespoon raw honey
1 springs of fresh mint, plus more for garnish
5 cups of water
Combine all the ingredients into a blend and whiz away!
Fill your glass up with ice and a pretty little sprig of mint, then get ready to chill! Ahhhh, that feels better. Cooled off and energized!
