London Fog Tea

Good morning! This is probably coming to you waayyyy too late to make it happen for you this morning, but at least you can make this luscious tea latte for a mid afternoon pick me up or for tomorrow morning 😉
I am over the moon with our recipe for making lattes at home, and now I am using the same technique for making beautiful London Fogs at home. Are you a tea drinker? I go back and forth interchangeably. I love so many teas, but Early Grey will always hold a special place in my heart. It’s warm richness laced with oil of bergamot flavored all of my early morning talks with my mama on lazy Saturday mornings while growing up. A quiet house, snuggled in bathrobes while we quietly chatted over tea before the rest of the house awoke is most likely the reason why she is still one of my best friends.

This London Fog is just that…something you want to savor and enjoy. Even if you morning is hectic, it beckons you to slow down for a cup. Simply a cuppa Earl Grey, sweetened with honey, and topped with beautiful steamed milk.

Make sure not to steep your tea longer than 3 minutes, or you will invite a bitterness in your cup. Make the steamed milk foam with the help of a mason jar and a microwave! It’s a cinch!

This is meant to be savored and enjoyed. I love that with the help of a microwave, I can enjoy legit lattes from the coziness of my home. I don’t mind the the cost savings, either, if ya know what I mean.

London Fog

This is the perfect way to start the day and feel like time isn't rushing by.  It doesn't take long to whip up at home, but you want to savor every last sip.  With the help of a microwave, you can make luscious latte foam at home.

Cuisine: Breakfast, British
Ingredients
  • 1 sachet of Earl Grey tea
  • 8 oz boiling water
  • 1/4 cup 2% milk
  • 1-2 tsp honey
Instructions
  1. Steep your Earl Grey until it is the darkness you desire.  Do not steep longer than 3 minutes, or it may grow bitter.

  2. While your tea is steeping, make your steamed milk by adding it to a mason jar with a lid.  Give it a vigorous shaking and then pop it into the microwave without the lid for 30 seconds.  For detailed instructions click here.

  3. Remove the tea bag, add your honey, and then use a spoon to hold back the foam so that you can add some hot milk to desired color.  Then top with the beautiful milk foam and enjoy!
