Koozies

Being a SoCal girl at heart, I believe summer is all about three things; good friends, warm beaches, and ice cold beer! Seeing as August snuck up on me and September is just around the corner, I am desperately trying to savor these last few weeks of summer. This weeks blog is all about holding on to that sunshine…and that beer! These are my homemade, recycled wetsuit, beer koozies 🙂

First order of business – pick up some fabric samples and twine from the local craft store! IMG_1149

A friend of mine had some old wetsuits that he let me have 🙂 One mans trash is another mans treasure I guess..

Trace out some designs with the various fabrics and sew them with twine!

Its good to use colors that pop!

I got excited and started playing with different patterns, colors and designs

Next I cut a circle around the fabric to sew onto my wetsuit koozie!

After all my designs were complete, I used an old 49er’s koozie as a guide to measuring out my koozie (a sacrifice my sister’s boyfriend might not appreciate)…

Then I started snippin away!

After my koozie was cut, I placed my fabric on the koozie and sewed it on! IMG_1167

Next, I sewed the back together…

And there ya have it!

This one I made as a going away gift for my friend Hannah so I downed the beer 😉 and stuck some flowers in for a nice presentation 🙂 Cheers!
