Here’s a throw back to one of our classy DIY home decor pieces! We love Zesting up the house and making those personal touches tangible. This was made after Sam was in need of some quality time with her hubby. Nothing quite like creating together and having something to cherish forever.
I hope you all had a fabulous Labor Day on Monday. Naturally I spent mine doing some zesting! Hubby just came home from a 21 day fire so we were both excited to hang at the house with the pups and do a project together. I snagged this awesome honeycomb octagon at the thrift store a few months back and I have been longing to do a project with it for quite some time now. I knew it wouldn’t take long so it was the perfect project to whip out in a day and feel the instant gratification. Now if you don’t have the luck of finding a perfectly great octagon frame then feel free to make one or use any frame really!!
Grab some wood, a frame, and some staples and get to work!
I used some old fence boards we had lying around. You can buy some cheap at home depot and stain them.
Next I traced the outside of the frame with a pencil to get my overall size and shape for cutting the wood (knowing I would be just a tad over the line and taking this into consideration when cutting)
Chop Chop Chop!!
Now it’s time to staple the boards to the back of the frame. Be careful the staples don’t go through all the way!
After you staple the entire back of your frame with wood it’s time to zest up the front a bit. I grabbed some old baseboard a friend snagged from an old construction site for me, gotta love FREE. I decided we needed an “N” at our little Nason Ranch. Time to do some more chopping!!
Next I was loving the subtle sea foam green I discovered under the first layer of paint so I sanded away a bit to expose more of the green.
Assemble your letter…
And there you have it! Time to find a spot to hang this one!!
