Homemade Coffee Liqueur

Happy Holiday’s Zesters,

Kristi here, after all of the craziness of the wedding, graduating from college, and transitioning into adult life all in the past three weeks…Christmas has been pretty much been on the back burner (especially the whole shopping and buying presents part)! For this Christmas, Cooper and I decided to make some homemade gifts using the leftover mason jars from our wedding. After perusing Pinterest, the Zest blog, and a few other websites, I came across a recipe for coffee liqueur! I ended up tweaking the recipe quite a bit and it came out to be quite fabulous! If you are in need of a classic, easy to make, delicious Christmas gift here you go.

Makes 1 Mason Jar (2 Cups)

1 cup brown sugar

1 cup white sugar

2 cups of coffee

1 cup vodka

1 cup spiced rum

2 tablespoons vanilla extract

1/4 cup cocoa powder

1 tablespoon of cinnamon

In a 3qt sauce pan over medium heat, combine the sugar and coffee. Keep over the heat until the sugar dissolves. Allow to cool in the fridge. Once cool, stir in the vanilla extract, vodka, spiced rum, cocoa powder, and cinnamon. Pour into a clean bottle, seal with a lid, and store in a dark cool place! Make & tie on your labels and you are good to go!

    1. Hi Sara,

      I originally made the coffee in the pot with the sugar, but then realized it was faster to make the coffee before and add it to the sugar on the stove to save time! I updated the recipe thank you for pointing that out! Happy Holidays!
