Going Away Gift

Hi Zesters! Today is quite a unique Sunday in that my cousin/ best friend leaves the good ol’ United States and jet sets to España to teach English for 9 months! Crazy right? Well, as sad as I am to see her go for 9 months, I could not be more proud of her! She is one of the most fearless and courages women I know, so there is no doubt in my mind that she is going to have an adventure of a life time!

To begin every adventure, I believe a congratulatory gift is in order… and I love any excuse to gift give:)

Obviously growing up you would always hear your parents say a homemade gift/ card always means more… with that being said, I wanted to give her a little slice of home, good luck, and some wisdom all wrapped into one gift she could take with her on her trek across the Atlantic!

One thing Erin (my cousin and soon to be world traveler) had recently been admiring of mine was my homemade dream catcher! So I thought maybe making a little traveling size on would be a great good luck/ homemade trinket from the heart!

What is so great about this gift is that you can use the same instructions listed previously on our DIY Dream Catcher post, but instead of a embroidery hoop, all that is needed is a bangle or round metal bracelet! :)

Next, I wanted to find some great family photos for her to carry around with her as she travels to remind her that we are always thinking of her and wishing her safe travels! (Of course I had to sneak in a silly one of us as kids in ridiculously embarrassing outfits!)

I can not stress enough what a fan I am of handwritten letters, so obviously I jotted down some words of luck, good wishes, and safe travels. In my note I also emphasized how important it is for her to write some of her own thoughts down as she journeys of to some incredible, life changing places. So I also though supplying her with an awesomely  ornate journal to do so would be the final touches of my going away gift!

My little helper seemed to love how it was turning out too:)

And there you go… the final product! It was so amazing giving it to her before she left! She was so grateful and I think she really loved it! Bon Voyage, Erin!
