What’s Up Wednesday
We are always so excited to get involved with our community, especially when it involves meeting other fabulous female entrepreneurs. So, when a local networking group called Girls Going Greater asked us to be guest speakers for their December gathering, we jumped!
We took the time to share with the ladies how to be “Martha” in 15 minutes. With their homes filling with friends and family over the holiday season, we thought a few hints about how to show thoughtfulness with little touches would be timely.
Not only were all our efforts quick touches that anyone could do, they were frugal and accessible for anyone. Using linens like sheets and curtains, you can create a backdrop with hues and layers that compliment your tablescape. Lacking legit place settings? No worries, we used mismatched plates and metal platters in lieu of chargers. Grabbing greenery from the yard, like pepper tree foliage and evergreens, you can dazzle up a candle collection for a warm and inviting “centerpiece.” We even showed how taking a few minutes to display food with loads of color and texture can make even store bought appetizers look like a special occasion.
What is a special occasion without a signature cocktail?? To show the ladies that they could be snazzy with very little effort, we busted out a blender to show them how to whip up a simple cranberry mimosa laced with vanilla and honey. Topping the puree by pouring some prosecco down the side of the glass makes for a fancy but quick ombre drink. Gorgeous!
For an added layer of thoughtfulness, we busted out some simple place cards that are quick to replicate. We simply tore rectangular pieces from a brown paper grocery bag, burned the edges, stabbed a rosemary skewer through them and scribed our guest’s names. Simple, fast, but shows such a sweet thoughtfulness for your guests.
We had a blast with the ladies, and cannot wait to meet up with them again as they grow and network on the Central Coast.
Keep posted, lovelies! We will be bringing you some more tips about how to be “Martha” in 15 this holiday season!
