DIY Metal Trellis

Seasonal Sunday

As we inch into fall and away from Summer I can’t help but bust out a few mor outdoor projects before it is too late!! Thankfully this project is pretty easy and my plant will survive the winter since it’s close to the wall and warmer- score! We recently  built a large red barn on the property, it has been perfect for storage, a workshop space and even hosting! But it still needs some zest- you feel me? So I thought I would add some green to the front entry with this simple homemade metal trellis. I scored this metal grating, which is actually hog pen fencing, at a garage sale for $10 bucks. I grabbed some metal tubs from miners as well as some posts and concrete and got to work with the hubby on our project…..

Supplies:

2 buckets/containers for posts

1 bucket/container for plant

2 posts

Quick Concrete mix

Water

Hog metal grate

Staple gun and scrap wood pieces

First we took our posts and cemented them into out metal buckets, be sure to grab a level and make them nice and straight…barn vines_0003barn vines_0004barn vines_0005

Next we placed the metal grate so it rested on the edge of the buckets and used a few pieces of scrap wood and a staple gun to secure the grate into place behind the posts.

We did this along a few spots on the post and then I planted a potato vine for my green and white pops against the red barn in my third bucket…

Now it’s time to water, I may even plant some more greenery in those other buckets above the concrete to add some more color!

Maya approved and so did our new chocolate lab pup- Barley 🙂
