I do not think it is a secret, but Sam and I love scarves! I love the colors, the textures and the comfort they provide. I adore accessories as a whole, but scarves are just the snuggly, lovely little touches to an outfit that put a smile on my face. Consequently, I admittedly have quite a collection. As the weather turns to autumn, I have decided to shake things up a bit.
I love the colors and the fringe on this particular scarf. It has been great bundled around my neck when it is cold outside. However, I wanted to be able to use this gorgeous textile in milder weather. So, I decided to turn it into a light poncho that I could pair with both casual and dressy outfits. It would be the perfect light layer to give me a bit of warmth and a whole lot of fabulous color and texture.
This DIY is crazy simple. First, I folded the scarf in half and then I determined how large of an opening that I would want for my poncho. Then it was just up to choosing some embroidery thread that would accent the scarf and doing a whip stitch with the wrong side of the fabric facing out.
Last step was to just turn it right side out.
I love the fringe!!
And I adore having a different look than a large coat or a pashmina when headed out for the night!
A touch of boho chic and a whole lot of comfy! I may have to make a couple more 😉
