Chris Meadows Memorial

What’s Up Wednesday

This past weekend we zested locally at the Atascadero Lake Pavilion for the Annual Chris Meadows Memorial. Chris was an emergency medical technician from San Luis Obispo, CA. Billy actually worked with him for a little bit of time. Chris was killed May 24, 2009, when the ATV he was riding overturned while he was responding to a medical call at Oceano Dunes. In honor of Chris, an award scholarship has been created to help fund  paramedic school for EMS workers in the Central California area. This memorial scholarship fund was established so that others can carry on Chris’s dream. We were honored when Amber with Karson Butler Events reached out asking for us to cater the special event. The day was full of life with wine tastings, zest food pairings, a silent auction and melodies sung by Cal Poly’s Take it SLO. (check out our instagram for live video!)

They had some awesome auction items and pictures of Chris through out the room, it was a wonderful set up!!

And then there was the food and wine pairings, oh wowzers! This was one of those events where Chanda and I wanted to eat everything on the menu in copious amounts!! ha! Check out all the fabulous local wineries and what people nibbled on while tasting….

Vista Del Rey Zinfandel -Shot glasses of gazpacho topped with crumbled egg, cucumber, crispy prosciutto and crouton dust

Halter Ranch Rose- Cups of Bristol’s cider pulled pork and topped with apple slaw and a harissa vinaigrette

Duck Foot Brewery -Fried vegetarian empanada served with basil garlic oil and chimichurri:
*Black bean, roasted corn and monterey jack
*Chicken & Chorizo

Adelaida Pinot Noir- Chili infused ahi poke and avocado served on appetizer spoons and topped with wakame and black sesame seeds

Tooth & Nail’s Chardonnay blend (Fragrant Snare) -Flatbread with parmesan, smashed avocado and lemon topped with radishes, fresh herbs, flax and hemp seeds

Oso Libre Bordeaux blend- Brie cheese encrusted with a delicate blue cheese mousse, garnished with fresh grapes and served with seeded crackers and fresh baked baguettes

It was a great day all around and such an honor to play a part of such a special event.
