10 Must Haves for Every Girl’s Closet

Today we are going to take a wild ride into my closet. If you have not seen my closet, let me get you up to speed. I have been blessed to have a closet that is literally the size of my dorm room in college- aka I have way more space to fill with amazing thrifty finds since then. Dangerous I tell you!! Thankfully I have had some fun with organizing the beast here. But amongst the crazy collection of dresses, costume jewelry and shoes you will see that I have some basics. Every gal has her favorites. Here is my list of the top 5 basics every girl should have in her closet….

#1. A good solid “wrap.”

That means you want to choose a neutral color, one that covers your bum so you can wrap up in it and feel snuggly and either dress up or dress down an outfit. I am constantly throwing this wrap on to add some extra length to a dress or rock with some boots and leggings. {scored mine at Kohls}

#2. Ankle Boots

A pair of comfy booties to rock with some leggings or a skirt. You could go with a heel or keep things casual, I love the extra embellishments like a good buckle or toe guard- so fun! {mine were a gift from my dear mother in love but they are Jeffrey Campbell}

#3. Clutches

A few food clutches for those days or nights when you don’t need much more than a debit card, your phone and some lip gloss! I always love collecting fun statement clutches with patterns or textures to add an extra accessory to an outfit. {scored at a thrift store, Forever 21, & Charming Charlies}

#4. Bangles

Now this one I don’t rock on a daily basis since I am constantly using my hands, but when I want to really go all out I will stack up a few bangles with a fun watch and suddenly there is instant texture and bling added to any outfit. {scored mine at the swap meet}

#5. A “go to” belt

Now I am not talking just any belt. You need a belt that is loyal. That’s right a neutral belt that you can throw on any oversized shirt or dress and suddenly have figure. A belt that add’s detail and is versatile. Meet my classic “go to” leather belt, I rock this often. {scored mine at a thrift store}

#6. Statement Necklace

Remember our post here? Basically add texture and dress up any outfit, enough said! {scored mine at Macy’s}

#7. Statement Earrings

From dangling seashells to hoops or feathers, earrings are one of the easiest ways to bring color and drama to an outfit and look like you went the extra mile with detail when it comes to accessories. {scored mine at a thrift store}

#8. A Jean Jacket

I can’t tell you how many times I rock my jean jacket, especially over the summer. It’s the perfect lightweight addition to a cool summer night AND it matches everything. Throw that sucker on with a patterned dress of some skinny jeans and you are ready to roll. {scored  mine at a thrift store, but it’s Abercrombie & Fitch}

#9. Cocktail Rings

They can be small or big but you gotta add some bling to those fingers. I like having one larger colorful ring with a few smaller stacked ones for texture. This is an easy way to add color to any outfit that won’t be overtaking. {scored mine at a thrift store & Charming Charlies}

#10. Hats
More than just a baseball cap or sun tanning hat, you need a “I am in a hurry and don’t want to wash my hair today” kind of hat. Ehmm aka if you see me in a hat you now know my secret, shhhhhhh. Every girl needs…
